Playout, ingest and media operations

Broadcast & Live Operations

We deliver asset management, OTT and live broadcast management for news and media organisations across India. Broadcast operations fail in specific, repeated ways — a missing playout file, a kit that left with a crew and never came back, an archive nobody can search. This solution is built around those failures rather than around a feature list.

The situation

What this exists to fix

  • Media arrives from crews, agencies and partners through whatever channel was convenient, and finding a specific file is a conversation rather than a search.
  • Playout discovers a missing or wrong-format file close to transmission.
  • Production kit leaves the building with a crew and its return is tracked in someone's memory.
  • The archive exists but is not searchable, so footage gets re-shot rather than reused.
  • Live contribution from the field drops and nobody knows whether it was the encoder, the link or the ingest.
  • There is no single view of what is on air, what is ingesting and what is failing.

The platform

9 modules, one data model.

Each module is purpose-built, and all of them share one record, one user directory and one audit trail.

01

Media ingest

Structured intake from crews, agencies and partners with metadata captured at the point of ingest rather than reconstructed later.

02

Asset custody and gate passes

Equipment register with QR scanning, check-out and check-in, transfers, gate passes and production kits, so kit that leaves the building is tracked against a person and a job.

03

Playout support

File readiness checks, format validation and scheduling visibility ahead of transmission, so problems surface before the slot does.

04

Live contribution

SRT and RTMP contribution from studio, OB van and field kit into redundant ingest, with link monitoring that distinguishes an encoder problem from a network one.

05

Searchable archive

Masters and renditions in object storage with metadata, tagging and search, so footage can be found and reused instead of re-shot.

06

Maintenance and readiness

Service tickets, maintenance scheduling, warranty and AMC tracking against each piece of equipment, with repeat failures made visible.

07

OTT and digital distribution

The path from broadcast operations to streaming — transcoding, packaging and delivery — so the channel and the platform share one media pipeline.

08

Operations dashboard

Fleet and media status in one view: assets available, assigned, under maintenance or missing; ingests in progress; live streams and viewers; and what needs attention now.

09

Audit trail

Every custody change, ingest, transfer and approval recorded against a user and a timestamp.

What you receive

Deliverables

  • Media ingest workflow with metadata capture
  • Equipment register with QR scanning, custody and gate passes
  • Production kit tracking
  • Playout file readiness and format validation
  • Live contribution configuration with redundant ingest
  • Searchable archive over object storage
  • Maintenance, warranty and AMC tracking
  • Operations dashboard and reporting
  • Monitoring, alerting and audit trail
  • Onsite implementation and operator training

What changes

Outcomes

  • Media findable by search rather than by asking
  • Playout problems surfaced before transmission, not during it
  • Kit tracked against a person and a job from the moment it leaves
  • An archive that gets reused instead of re-shot
  • Live contribution failures diagnosed rather than guessed at
  • One operational view of assets, ingest and what is on air

How it is delivered

Scoped per channel and estate; includes onsite implementation

The plan we quote, with the gates where you sign off before the next stage starts.

  1. 01

    Operations discovery

Current ingest paths, playout process, kit inventory, archive state and failure history.

  2. 02

    Design and integration plan

How the platform sits alongside existing playout and production systems.

  3. 03

    Build and configuration

Ingest, custody, archive, monitoring and dashboards.

  4. 04

    Labelling and inventory onboarding

Equipment tagged and the opening inventory reconciled.

  5. 05

    Onsite implementation and training

Operator training on the floor, during real shifts.

Integrate, don't rebuild

Built on services that already work

We build and own the application, the workflows and the operations. For infrastructure we integrate proven managed services rather than untested in-house equivalents — lower deployment risk, faster launch, and infrastructure billed at real usage.

  • SRT and RTMP contribution
  • Object storage
  • CDN
  • Transcoding services
  • Thermal label printers
  • Handheld barcode scanners

Questions

Asked before every engagement

No. It sits alongside it. Playout automation is specialised, usually already installed, and rarely the thing that is broken — what is broken is everything around it: where the file came from, whether it is ready, where the camera went, and what is in the archive.

Asset management is the custody and lifecycle layer, and it stands on its own for any organisation with equipment to track. This solution is broadcast operations as a whole — ingest, playout readiness, live contribution, archive and OTT distribution — with asset custody as one part of it. If equipment tracking is the only problem, buy the smaller one.

Yes, and that is the point of keeping one media pipeline. We deliver OTT platforms as well, so broadcast operations and streaming can share transcoding, packaging and delivery rather than duplicating them.

For broadcast, yes. Operator training has to happen on the floor during real shifts, because a system that works in a training room and not during a bulletin has not been implemented.
